Detox Practice – Intermediate Level
We just have to start the new year with detox to burn through stagnation, remove any old stuff we’re still holding on to and create plenty of room for all of the new exciting experiences we are going to have this year.
I love twists (they are especially good for my scoliosis) and generally just great for so many systems of our bodies they help restore your spine’s natural range of motion, stimulate circulation and have a cleansing and refreshing effect on the torso organs and associated glands.
So let’s twist again!
Full range of motion in spinal rotation is essential to so many yoga poses but sadly our daily habitual pattern of movement make it too easy for us to lose that full range of rotation.
If we don’t regularly lengthen the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia (connective tissues) around the spine our movement will become more and more limited.
So…. we will be stretching, squeezing and wringing out that area with a combination of twisting poses and core work focused on the sides abdominals.
That might not sound like fun but it’s just what your body will be craving and you’ll feel amazing afterwards.
Then at the end, you can stretch them out because we want them to be long and lithe as well and then languish in your Shavasana to finish.
