Vasisthasana Pose – Beginner Level

In the full expression of the classic version of this pose, we will balance on one arm with the body straight and the feet flexed sideways on the floor.

There are quite a few versions of this pose some requiring hip opening, some needing hamstring opening but all developing strength in the hands, arms, shoulders and core.

It can be in the full versions a very liberating and freeing pose with its big burst of energy and trust in yourself… you’ll see what I mean.

Named after Vasistha who was a great sage and teacher who could remove negative influences and lift the spirit.

Vasistha was patient in offering his wisdom, he would wait until his student was open and willing to receive his teachings even when that person was very sceptical that he could get them back onto the right path.

As many of us know sometimes we have to hit rock bottom before we can begin our journey back towards the light.

It is the ones that are interested in transformation who can reap the benefits of this pose and everything that it represents.
