Warrior Willpower – Beginner Level
Today’s practice will be around the pose Virabhadrasana III (Warrior 3 Pose) which although it is a strong pose in many ways it is one of the easier balances.
Because it does not need a tonne of hip opening nor does it need the balancing leg to be fully straight which makes it easier for those of us with tighter hamstrings.
Its benefits are that it strengthens the whole back side of the body, including the shoulders, hamstrings, calves, ankles, and back.
It also tones and strengthens the abdominal muscles.
We will be incorporating back strengthening and flexibility poses onto variations of Chandra Namaskars (moon salutations).
We will be covering static and moving variations of the pose using plenty of counterposes to allow the breath to reset and stretch out the muscles that have been working hard.
So whether your warrior is a wobbly one, a wild one or an unwavering one you will develop those muscles that will in time keep you in a wonderfully steady warrior who has loads of willpower.
